Here are some ways play & expressive therapy can support your child:

Children need an outlet to release, feel, & handle difficult emotions. Play & expressive therapy can help children with anxiety, overwhelming emotions, transitions, & problems at home or school. We help your child learn coping mechanisms through these research-based modalities. We utilize the frameworks of the top leaders in the field, one being Dr. Dan Siegel.

Play & Expressive Therapy Helps:

-Foster self-calming & soothing techniques.

-Support healthy brain development for your child & create more emotional flexibility.

- Teach mindfulness & how to deal with overwhelming emotions. We use the present moment to create awareness & a sound space to experience emotion(s). After all, we are not able to heal what we cannot feel.

-Create a stronger connection with your child in their natural state using art, music, nature, games, meditation, dance, & play.

“A mentor is someone who allows you to see the hope inside yourself.”Oprah Winfrey

“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.” -Fred Rogers

Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.”Plato

“There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. There are seven million.” -unknown

Teenagers:

Being a teenager is difficult. As a parent you want to understand & offer guidance, but oftentimes teenagers need an outside support who is not a parent. If you are a parent who is encouraging your teenager to go to therapy, we honor their choice to work with us & therapy works best when they get to choose. Feel free to send them this note.

Family Therapy + Parent Coaching :

If you are scheduling a session for your child & they are under the age of 12 years old, we would like to meet with you first to gather more information before we meet with your child. Depending on the age & development of your child, often it can be the most beneficial for parents/guardians to be involved in therapy. This may include doing family therapy or individual parent sessions.
