Hannah Figueroa, LMSW (She/her/hers)
The human experience can be hard and so often leaves us feeling lonely and isolated. Whether you are a college student leaving home for the first time, a new parent, someone exploring their gender or sexual identity, you are struggling with substance abuse, a person struggling with current family dynamics or simply a human in need of more connection, I can help. Therapy is an opportunity to walk through those spaces with support and guidance. We are not meant to go through life alone. You do not have to do this alone. We will work together, as a team, to learn how to most effectively navigate challenges and gain a balanced perspective. I want you to enjoy your life with confidence, hope, and purpose. I believe in meeting people where they are at and that therapy is not about me providing you with answers, fixing you, or having my own agenda, rather about me helping you to discover the capacity that you already possess to create change in your life.
I hold the therapeutic relationship as a sacred space and know that finding a good fit can sometimes take time. If this is your first time in therapy you may not yet know what it is that you need in a therapeutic relationship and that is fully okay! I will give you plenty of space and time to feel it out and together we can collaboratively determine if moving forward together feels right. This process is not about me, but wholly about how I can become a tool, a safe space, and a sounding board for you to utilize. I offer a compassionate, judgement free space to explore whatever it is that you feel you want and need to explore. I believe in allowing you the dignity of your own experience while providing empathetic support and guidance along the way. It is an honor to do this work and to have the privilege of walking alongside my fellow humans and clients in this capacity.
I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Community Services at Sienna Heights University and obtained my Master’s in Social Work at the University of Michigan, with a focus on Interpersonal Practice and Mental Health. My field placement during that program was completed at Michigan Medicine’s Child and Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatry. Following graduation, I worked for an outpatient substance use treatment facility in Ann Arbor and had the opportunity to work with clients at all stages of their recovery journey running groups, facilitating individual therapy, family therapy and acting as a member on the sobriety court treatment team. Since then, I have been working in the private practice sector and have thoroughly enjoyed being able to build strong connections with my clients on a long-term basis. Watching the growth and change in others is what truly ignites my passion as a therapist.
I work with young adults and adults utilizing a variety of modalities based fully on the unique needs of each person. No two clients are the same and I believe that your therapy should reflect that. I enjoy providing support for a large variety of issues including, but absolutely not limited to, anxiety, depression, life transitions, substance use disorders, relationship dynamics, family struggles, and identity exploration. My clients would describe me as kind, empathetic, respectful and direct. If any of this resonates with you and the chapter of life that you are in, I welcome a phone call or email to set up a brief, free consult. I truly look forward to hearing from you and walking this journey alongside you.
